Ittehad-ul-Mujahideen attacks rise in July 2025
Infographic by militant group IMP claims 89 attacks across Pakistan in July 2025

Ittehad-ul-Mujahideen Pakistan (IMP) reported 89 attacks in July 2025, nearly double the number recorded during its founding month, April 2025. The group’s official media outlet, Sada-e-Haq, published the details in a one-page infographic report released on 1 August 2025, produced separately in Urdu, Pashto, English, and Persian, and disseminated via its official channels on the social media platforms X and Telegram.

According to the report, all attacks occurred in districts within Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province. Of these, 34 took place in North Waziristan, 27 in Khyber, 11 in Orakzai, 7 each in South Waziristan and Bannu, 2 in Lakki Marwat, and 1 in Peshawar.

The Oxus Watch notes that since its establishment on 12 April 2025, the group has claimed attacks in nine districts, with Peshawar added to the list in July. All these districts are located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

An important aspect of the report is the geographic concentration of the group’s operations, which reveals that the attacks are being carried out primarily by two of its main factions: Hafiz Gul Bahadur and Lashkar-e-Islam. These factions have had a longstanding operational presence in the North Waziristan and Khyber regions, respectively. Accordingly, 50 of the July attacks occurred in North Waziristan and the adjacent districts of Bannu, South Waziristan, and Lakki Marwat—areas associated with the Gul Bahadur network—while 39 attacks took place in Khyber and the adjacent Orakzai and Peshawar districts, where Lashkar-e-Islam traditionally operates.

In terms of modus operandi, the attacks included 36 sniper or laser gun strikes, 14 raids, 12 ambushes, nine guerrilla attacks, nine quadcopter drone strikes, four hand grenade attacks, three retaliatory assaults, and two improvised explosive device (IED) attacks. IMP, for the first time, highlighted the use of quadcopter drones in its monthly report.

The Oxus Watch notes that quadcopter attacks have emerged as a new and lethal trend in recent months against security forces in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa districts, employed effectively by both IMP and its rival faction, Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan. Sada-e-Haq released the first video of such attacks on 8 July 2025, showing how militants effectively employ small commercial quadcopters to strike security targets.

According to the report, these attacks resulted in 103 casualties, comprising 88 fatalities and 15 injuries. Among the casualties were 88 army personnel, 13 from the Frontier Corps paramilitary forces, and 2 from the Counter Terrorism Department police.
